Meet Janelle Calfee

Best Massage Therapist
in King of Prussia, PA

My massage journey started on whim. Someone close to me shared that I wasn't very good at massage (I know can you believe it) and my type A personality was determined to prove them wrong! I quickly realized that I loved the massage world. I was amazed at how my hands could help change and in some cases heal another person. Being able to use my hands create real change that is measurable and obtainable is impressive. The ability to increase circulation and release tension on one's muscles and joints. To be able to help someone reduce their stress and help an individual reclaim some happiness in their lives is what makes massage worth it for me as a therapist. As a nurse, I see people sometimes at their worst and I know that while modern medicines can help to alleviate pain and conditions, it is not the only thing answer. I believe in using my skills as a massage therapist to help create a holistic approach to compliment what an individual is using to treat aliments and chronic conditions.

I have worked as a nurse for the last 14 years (and counting) and I have worked in healthcare for 28 years and counting! I have been a massage therapist for 8+ years. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family including my fur-babies. I am a mother of 6 wonderful, successful, and amazing children. I have lived in Pennsylvania my entire life. I grew up in Delaware County and moved to Montgomery County in 1999. I'm not a fan of Winter but love Fall and Spring. I love to cook, bake, write poetry, and garden. I love to teach and enjoy being a CPR instructor in addition to my many other talents.

What is Swedish Massage?

The Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massages you can get. It involves different types of massage strokes such as  percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping and rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction. Essential oils can be added to the massage oil or lotion to enhance its therapeutic effects.

Benefits of Massage

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

Decreased anxiety.

Enhanced sleep quality.

Greater energy.

Improved concentration.

Increased circulation.

Reduced fatigue.

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.

Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.

Ease medication dependence.

Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.

Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.

Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.

Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.

Increase joint flexibility.

Lessen depression and anxiety.

Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.

Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.

Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.

Reduce spasms and cramping.

Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.

Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.

Relieve migraine pain.

Testimonials

The experience was amazing, hands down the massage was one of the best massages of ever gotten. I explained my problems with my shoulders and neck and Janelle focused on those areas.

Her hands are strong and precise and her work seems to be a layer deeper than most massages. Her healing hands made me feel relaxed and the pressure was just right.

Janelle is the very best, very caring, and extremely professional, I would recommend Janelle to everyone.
